Description

Nokomis will develop the prototype for a radio technology which will substantially enhance the ability of warfighters operating under the canopy to establish and maintain reliable communications. The approach will enhance Nokomis existing receiver sensitivity technologies with a novel integrated front end module and optimized software algorithms specifically designed to mitigate the conditions associated with communication under the canopy. Software and hardware components will be assembled and integrated into a field demonstrable prototype of the technology, and the prototype will be demonstrated to the government. This proposed system, the Self-Optimizing Radio Transceiver Integrated Enhancement (SORTIE), will be a light-weight, rugged, and modular capability that is compatible with existing communications systems (including AN/PRC-150, AN/PRC-155, GPS, JTRS, and cellular operation), allowing them to maintain open lines of communication even under heavily occluded under-canopy environments
