Description
The goal of this program is to develop a conformal solid-state Li cell enabled by a flexible solid state laminated stack.The solid state electrolyte will be a polymer composite which will balance charge transport and mechanical properties.This approach will support scalable production and benefit cycle life through managing interfacial strain and impedance.In Phase I, a full Li solid cell (>0.25 Ah) will be demonstrated with the unit stack specific energy > 250 Wh/kg.In Phase II, the materials and processes will be optimized and scaled up to build large format solid cells (>3 Ah) which will provide specific energy > 350 Wh/kg, energy density >800 Wh/l, and cycle life >250.Wide temperature range and safety advantage of the solid state cell will also be demonstrated.A conformal solid state battery of 12 V, 150 Wh will be delivered by the end of Phase II.
