Description
We propose to develop a device that is capable of rapidly characterizing multilayered transparent armor using Raman spectroscopy. The proposed Raman device is designed to spectroscopically identify the materials, provide the sequence of materials, and determine material thicknesses in transparent armor that may contain up to 15 layers and may be up to 6 inches overall thickness. The entire system will be portable, enabling its use anywhere a sample can be examined.
