Description
Highly accurate and comprehensive flight data (angular motion, linear acceleration, velocity, orientation) is critical for guidance and fuzing subsystems within guided and unguided munitions.Orbital Research has proven the feasibility to attain these performance parameters by developing innovative prototype Motion Measurement Package(s) that can provide this comprehensive information to the munitions subsystems.Through the Phase I effort, the Orbital Team has demonstrated the feasibility of measuring and estimating these parameters in an accurate manner, while surviving 40,000G gun shock environments.Orbital has designed these technologically advanced prototypes in a modular and open architecture so that through the Phase II each design option can be refined and further evaluated for functional and environmental performance.By leveraging successes of similar precision guided subsystems, performance of these technologies will be validated in the specified platforms and demonstrated to provide highly accurate data throughout flight. The results will mature the M2P technology and provide a robust low-cost sensor suite that provides highly accurate data to various subsystems, thus increasing the precision and/or lethality of current and future guided/un-guided munitions.
