Description
Femtosecond pulses can be significantly degraded when passing through a turbulent atmosphere.Normal adaptive optics cannot measure or correct these turbulence-induced aberrations because the femto pulses follow a curvilinear path through the air.OPC will enhance an existing Army funded femtosecond system with traditional adaptive optics to include a new form of adaptive optics able to measure the turbulence-induced aberration over the nonlinear path of a femtosecond pulse through the atmosphere.The enhanced system will be designed, implemented, verified and field tested.
