Description

In order to provide the tactical edge to the warfighter through geospatial and mapping data products, the Army Geospatial Center requires effective and efficient remote sensing tools as input to its feature extraction process. While current methods are effective, new and innovative approaches are needed to expand the types of features available and to enable feature extraction in varying conditions.Polaris Sensor Technologies is proposing a set of multi-modal sensors dubbed the MSP sensor suite that will provide multiple sensing modalities including polarization for airborne data collection of features of interest for geospatial mapping.Polaris will exploit existing sensor designs including infrared and visible systems and adapt them for airborne data collection. The individual sensors will be assessed for integration into a small unmanned aerial system. The MSP sensor suite will be built and flown to demonstrate the enhanced imaging capability.Commercialization of the capability will also be pursued.
