Description

The Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) system comprises the land-based element of the nations nuclear triad and is a key strategic asset providing nuclear deterrence and strike capability to the President. The ICBM infrastructure and support systems have grown organically over time, resulting in siloed systems that dont effectively integrate and make providing a common operational picture a challenge. Though the ICBM system remains functionally sufficient, modernization efforts call for a command center with fast and effective data collection, fusion, shared situational awareness, and decision support capability. Praeses proposes using innovative technological approaches such as semantic web data structures, services oriented architectures, multi-level fusion and modern web application protocols, along with previously developed COTS/GOTS solutions in a command center designed to facilitate a collaborative atmosphere for shared situational awareness. The project will demonstrate command center technology which automates the fusion of collected data, displays that data through a robust and configurable visualization including maps, data, video and audio to provide a common operational picture including monitoring of missile status, maintenance activities, convoy operations and security at the wing, squadron and flight levels. The demonstration of this technology will provide near-term value to improve efficiencies across 20th Air Force operations.
