Description

The CO2 concentration in the Earth’s atmosphere has seen a drastic increase over the last half- century due largely to burning of fossil fuels. This increase could result in disastrous global climate change if the current rate of release does not decrease. Carbon capture and storage is crucial for the effective reduction of atmospheric CO2. The most important portion of this process is the development of the CO2 capture pathway, especially from industrial sources. PCI proposes a novel Post-Combustion Carbon Capture System (PCCCS) system coating high CO2- selective, high capacity newly discovered subset of metal organic framework (MOF) materials onto a ultra-high heat and mass transfer coefficient substrate suitable for high space velocity sorption as well as rapid and energy-efficient desorption cycles that does not utilize any steam with considerable reduction in sorbent regeneration energy. Commercial Applications and Other Benefits – The primary public benefit will come from a significant improvement in the cost-efficiency of capturing CO2 from exhaust streams, thereby reducing the costs of CO2 capture and also encouraging its more rapid adoption due to its lower cost.
