Description
This Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I Project proposes a breakthrough development in embedded infrared (embIR) thermal imaging with a camera system that utilizes an embedded microcontroller for command, control, digital data processing, and output signal generation while optimizing for image rate, image quality, system size, system weight, thermal management, and power consumption. By combining the latest generation of miniaturized uncooled infrared (IR) imagers with RPX Technologies proprietary embedded microcontroller technology, a completely integrated unified-package camera capable of analog and digital video output can be constructed to meet the requirements outlined in the MCoE Soldier Borne Sensor (SBS) Request for Information (RFI). Initial component evaluation using the Night Vision Integrated Performance Model (NV-IPM) shows that the integrated system, along with reasonable optical component modifications, can meet or exceed the requirements outlined for probabilities of detection and recognition.
