Description

State-of-art, simulation-based training environments are representative of real world situations and tasks, and they provide motivating practice in a form that is inexpensive and portable. However, the situations encoded for training are sometimes artificial and incomplete, leaving a gap between simulation training and transfer of training to operational settings. Further, significant instructor/operator effort is devoted to encoding and delivering these simulation exercises, resulting in less time for instructors to guide learners and to provide feedback. This effort seeks to enable simulation-based replay and variation of live events. The approach leverages data captured during live events (e.g., track data) to create a replayable simulation of the event in a high-fidelity, distributed simulation environment. By use and extension of previously-developed scenario adaptation capabilities, the simulation training scenarios constructed from data can also be modified (new events and alternative event sequences) to enable customization of the training scenarios for instructional requirements and preferences.
