Description
All the military Services have identified the need for greater levels of autonomy and collaborative control or swarming for unmanned systems as critical enabling technologies for future forces. While swarming has demonstrated great potential, currently there is no method for easily designing and verifying swarming systems for military applications. DSOARS helps fills this critical need by bringing together over 16 years of research, development, and testing of swarming systems to address a wide range of military functions. Using DSOARS, swarming applications can be constructed to support a wide range of missions both government and civilian. The Phase II effort will develop a suite of swarm engineering tools that will enable the warfighter to construct robust, predictable swarming systems that have been verified prior to deployment. These tools will be evaluated on a realistic military mission in simulation and a portion of that mission demonstrated in live robotic swarm tests.
