Description
Automatically identifying emerging technologies and research trends from the high volume of the worlds scientific publications is of great significance in order to stay ahead of the critical advances that impact the development of new and disruptive technologies. Semandex and Barnstorm will implement a prototype tool, INSIGHT, that will scan large datasets from web content services and perform analytics to identify and visualize trends in scientific research and technology development. To implement this software application we will use Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques including deep learning methods and a semantic graph organization and visualization approach. With the power to observe trends in scientific publications and to point to the relevant work in a specific field, the INSIGHT tool will have potential uses in a wide variety of industries and organizations from corporate intelligence and financial markets to manufacturing industries.
