Description

Tau Technologies leads a team with proven experience in applying technology to solve real world challenges. Our program manager was the Principal Investigator at Battelle Memorial Institute on a project that successfully developed and demonstrated a 300-meter range, man-portable facial recognition system for SOCOM. This proposal will incorporate newer technology and algorithms to improve accuracy, reduce size and weight and extend the range of the previous system by a factor of three (1000 meters). Tau has the capability to provide physics based computer modeling to conduct a thorough technology feasibility study, including an analysis of the critical technical factors, constraints, and relationships affecting long-range facial recognition performance, with a top-level integrated system design. Lessons learned on previous similar work will allow us to optimize the physics constraints, such as sensor wave length, optics size, stabilization and configuration, illumination and atmospheric compensation. Working with Dr. Boult at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS), who has extensive experience in long-range facial recognition algorithms and approaches, we will incorporate and evaluate the newest methods with state of the art computing technology. We will work with Battelle, who has extensive experience in integrating, packaging and fielding solutions for the Special Operations community.
