Description

Toyon Research Corporation proposes to develop a human machine interface (HMI) for dynamically controlling a set of sensors which desire to locate and identify surface vessels to meet mission objectives. A key challenge for a sensor resource manager (SRM) is determining what is most valuable at the current time. The proposed HMI will allow a human operator to influence the operation of the SRM. This influence will come in the form of a set of specified controls that are possible for the operator such as the ability to increase the revisit rate on an object in track or the collection of identification information. Another key element of the HMI will be the display of information to the operator. This information should not overwhelm the operator and should be presented in a manner that allows the operator to selectively display various sources of information. Candidate information that should be displayed to the operator includes track information from a global fusion system, currently planned sensor schedules from an SRM, and the outputs of specific exploitation tools which provide additional insight beyond what is in the global fusion database.
