Description
Triton Systems and its partner propose two new flame retardant additives that will work synergistically in Nylon 6,6.The new flame retardants will be blended into the nylon 6,6 hot melt to produce flame retardant Nylon with a UL 94 rating of V0.Addition of the additives will not alter the melt flow properties of the Nylon 6,6.Flame tests and Mechanical tests will be performed on coupons of the FR Nylon 6,6and compared to non-FR Nylon 6,6.At the end of the Phase I program we will demonstrate the spinning of fibers and perform flame and mechanical tests on the yarn.Ultimately a Flame retardant 50/50 Nylon/Cotton (NYCO) blend fabric will be woven in order to make a comfortable, durable, low cost flame retardant Army Combat Uniform (FR-ACU).
