Description

Medical simulation has become increasing important tool for medical training in academic, hospital, and military settings. Despite the advancements in medical simulators, the major drawbacks include high costs, limited repeated use, and limited ability to customize parts. One approach that can address these issues is using self-healing materials as soft tissue parts in medical simulators that repair after damage, allowing for repeated use. Triton Systems and its team propose to develop self-healing elastomers as model soft tissues for medical simulation applications and demonstrate 3D printing of anatomical sections. Our proposed self-healing elastomer systems will have tunable properties and rapid self-healing rates.
