Description
The objective will be to develop and evaluate a thermal interface material with resistance to vibration and abrasion for use in militarized battery modules. Nanofillers will be used to improve thermal conductivity and reduce the thermal expansion coefficient. The developed TIM formulations will be tested for thermal conductance, electrical insulation, resistance to vibration/abrasion, conformance to irregular gaps, and manufacturing cost. Reworkability and repairability of the proposed TIM will also be demonstrated. At the end of Phase I, based on limited benchtop testing and cost, a small family of materials will be selected for further investigation in Phase II. A comprehensive report with results and conclusions will be submitted.
