Description

The accuracy and integrity of positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) sources are critical components of modern military operations. These requirements must be met in all operational environments, including situations where GPS signals are degraded or denied. While selective-availability anti-spoofing module (SAASM) enhanced GPS receivers provide greatly improved performance over civilian systems, they are not capable of providing accurate navigation solutions in all operational environments. This limits the mission effectiveness of existing systems and creates a need for improved performance. To address this need, we propose to develop a Portable Aided Navigation and Timing for Human Enabled Reckoning (PANTHER) system, designed to operate within the Nett Warrior common operating environment (COE). PANTHER is an innovative approach that seamlessly combines the full range of embedded sensors, an optimal robust nonlinear fusion engine, and a modular system architecture which enables us to greatly increase the PNT accuracy, availability, and integrity of the Nett Warrior system. PANTHER offers soldiers a system that is lightweight, intelligent, and mission effective.
