Description

The objective for this effort is to leverage the data mining capability of the PMESII Workbench to enhance SSOTT. In collaboration with the Army Research Lab (ARL), SSOTT was designed to provide Joint users with a rich operational training capability that promotes train the way we fight by helping users perform critical thinking about the second and third order effects that are essential to solving complex problems such as food security. A critical part of this task involves data mining CIMDPS (Civil Information Management Data Processing System). CIMDPS/JCIMS, the data source behind SSOTT, contains rich socio-cultural data to support Civil Information Management. CIMDPS, a SOCOM POR will complete its transition to JCIMS, a Joint POR, by 2020, resulting in an expanded data sharing capability. As CIMDPS/JCIMS grows, the need for a capable semi-automated data mining capability in SSOTT will only increase. Leveraging the PMESII Workbench in SSOTT will benefit both projects. SSOTT will gain a powerful data mining capability for much less cost/effort than it would otherwise and parts of the PMESII Workbench will be incorporated into a program with a strong path to transition.
