Description

Globally distributed monitoring of coastal sites and bases using an environment spectra and corrosivity monitoring system has demonstrated the ability to quantify dynamic changes in environmental severity and materials performance.  Although the monitoring system has been demonstrated in numerous dual-use aerospace and automotive applications, the full potential of the technology has yet to be realized for Air Force materials testing and environment severity classification.  The utility of these monitoring systems has been limited, in part, by the lack of cloud-based software tools to standardize data storage and enable rapid data visualization and analysis.  The proposed Phase I project will enable development of a prototype tool, selection of an appropriate platform for cloud deployment, and collection of initial Air Force user feedback.  This will be achieved by leveraging previously developed internal tools and optimizing them for use by our Air Force customers.  The ultimate goal of the project is to achieve the analysis tools, data processes, and collaborative framework needed to leverage environment severity and material performance data from outdoor sites to support corrosion maintenance according TO 1-1-691 and materials research and acceptance testing relative to MIL-STD-810.
