Description
The meteoric rise of personally identifying information (PII) created and shared online is unprecedented. The sheer volume of open source intelligence available on sites such Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, message forums, Instagram makes the task of collecting and organizing OSINT increasingly laborious for analysts. Novel technologies are largely responsible for creating these challenges, but they also offer new opportunities to solve them.In previous governmental work, Zeuss built and tested an operational product called Helios that already addresses this problem space in significant ways. In short, it enables non-technical end users to conduct concurrent public data searches related to a target entity across a multitude of online sources with a single, intuitive GUI.In Phase 1, Zeuss demonstrated how its Helios technology could be successfully re-architected to run locally using a standalone USB device instead of its original cloud-based design. Phase II will build upon Phase I research efforts by developing more advanced data collection, analysis, and visualization capabilities to solve important OSINT challenges informed by a military need. The result of Phase II R&D will be a commercially viable product with broad application to mission needs of the DoD, Law Enforcement, and corporate investigations.
