Description

The integration of physical and cyber systems have dramatically increased the vulnerability and the attack surface of cyber physical systems. The most common architecture to achieve the monitoring and control of the critical infrastructures is the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. As SCADA systems become interconnected with Internet resources and services, they become easy targets to cyber adversaries, especially because they were never designed to handle security issues; they were designed to operate in completely isolated environment from corporate networks and Internet. Therefore, it is critically important to secure and protect the operations of critical cyber-physical systems against cyber-attacks. Successful attacks against critical infrastructures can result in economic disruption and hazards to human health and safety. We provide resilient physical and cyber systems based on Resilient Communication System (RCS), Resilient Command and Control System (RCCS), IP Fluxing, and Self-Management. In summary, the main objective of this project is to develop and demonstrate cyber-physical resilient middleware technologies based on moving target defense, IP fluxing, and autonomic computing that can be used to develop critical CPS applications that are resilient against any types of attacks, faults, and/or accidents.
