Description

CFDRC and our partners have been involved in the practical research on AGT1500 class compressor stall detection and potential stall/surge event(s) for many years. We are now prepared to provide an analysis and stall detection sensor study focused on defining an optimal method for identifying, predicting and mitigating AGT1500 compressor stall and surge events.Specific Phase I efforts include:1) Evaluation of a proven research based stall/surge detection sensor and ensuing implementation within the AGT1500 with full scale T&E during Phase II;2) Selection, adaptation, customization and application of a modeling approach for rapid AGT1500 compressor stall/surge assessment;3) Definition of a Phase II development, installation, test and evaluation plan of the Phase I prototype definition within the AGT1500.During Phase II CFDRC will complete detailed design, fabrication and TRL 6 evaluation at the AGT1500 OEM test facility.CFDRC will deliver a production grade demonstration of this sensor, and its associated system based suppression control approach. This will include assessment throughout the AGT1500 engine operating range including during induced surge/stall events.Controlled correction responses will utilize laboratory based procedures. These results will be presented to the Abrams PM in preparation for Phase III field upgrade upon conclusion of Phase II.
