Description
"Colorado Engineering, Inc. (CEI), in conjunction with NVIDIA and Altera corporations, proposes to develop a unified tool kit (FASTER Toolkit) to assist MDA with taking CPU-based simulation code and accelerating it utilizing GPUs and FPGAs. CEI's goal is to provide a tool that can provide insights and cues to the users so they can perform the process of creating and profiling a High Performance Computing System (HPC). Ultimately, the FASTER Toolkit will allow any user to be able to convert an existing or new computing system/software to utilize state-of-the-art acceleration devices in a more efficient manner. The second component of this project consists of constructing an HPC single-simulation node consisting of multiple CPUs, NVIDIA GPUs, and Altera FPGAs. Once the single-simulation node is constructed, CEI will perform a complete software port of the missile simulation software code using the FASTER toolkit. Once the performance and limitations of the design have been thoroughly accessed, a technology demonstration will be conducted within an MDA facility or other appropriate venue. CEI will place significant emphasis on the transition of this technology to aid the acceleration of both new and existing products in military and commercial markets."
