Description

ABSTRACT: Cyan has developed a concept to develop a revolutionary improvement in HD IRST by utilizing the new generation of Small Pixel FPAs to reduces the optics while still maintaining sub 100 uRad class resolution for stand off detection of dim objects such as LO missiles and drones. Cyan Systems proposes a compact high definition IRST with small pixels to make possible advanced tracking error on both passive and active type sensing modalities. Cyans small pixel technology makes it possible to reduce the size of the optics dramatically while still providing dramatic resolution at longer ranges that existing larger pixel IRST technologies. Cyans key innovations allow a much smaller HD format array which results in a reduction in the size of the optic (IFOV = dpix/fl) so that the resolution improves with smaller pixels. At the same time the smaller sensor uses less detector materials and results in a size reduction in the sensor package as well as the optics.; BENEFIT: 1. High Definition, high resolution Digital IR Sensors for compact and lightweight WFOV IRST with better performance than current generation IRSTs.2. Increased NEP from small pixels, leading to increased detection range, reduced false alarms and better stand off ID and recognition range.3. Advanced real-time multi-target tracking with symbology and ability to track target deeper in clutter with small pixel pooling/correlation tracking.4. Improved circular error probability on fine tracking such as plume hard body aimpoint and related complex tracking of dim fast moving objects.Spatial and temporal oversampling to insure good well capacity and frame rates at the same time.5. Refined image processing algorithms that are both effective at detecting low observables suitable for implementation in compact FPGA and GPU processing modules6. Specification for both a prototype compact WFOV/Panoramic lens and compact optics.
