Description
There is an important need for lightweight, reliable, portable oxygen generators to stabilize soldiers injured in the field prior to being brought into field hospitals. Injuries sustained in the field with significant bleeding lack readily available blood replacement or compressed oxygen which can lead to permanent disability or death. It is well known that high-purity oxygen can be used as a treatment for severe blood loss to provide oxygenation to the body until proper blood circulation can be restored. In this project, HiFunda will demonstrate an improved oxygen generator through demonstrating materials and processing innovations that can provide significant reductions in both weight and power consumption, and meet the target specifications. In addition, a conceptual design for an oxygen generator based on these improvements that can produce 20 Liters/minute of oxygen for over 30 minutes, while being operated using a BA-5590 Battery, and weighing less than 2 kg will be developed.
