Description
High speed imaging of plasma spectroscopy is limited to relatively short record lengths and requires low light sensitivity which is very expensive. Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPM's) are a new solid state device that can replace conventional photomultipliers. When leverageing SiPM detectors, portions of the tradeo space where slightly reduced spatial resolution allows gains in record length and reduced costs are poorly explored. Approach HyperV Technologies Corp. proposes to construct a full scale prototype 128pixel bercoupled, lowlight camera head for time resolved spectroscopy of fast plasma events A spectroscopic camera head capable of recording the behavior of a line at 14 multiple diaganotics sites with frame rates of 10 MHz or better, and a record length of at least 256,000 frames is targeted. This will allow tens of milliseconds of time resolved spectra of plasma events to be recorded in a single shot. Commercial Applications and Other Benets The primary commercial application is in sales or rental of the device to researchers performing spectroscopy on experiments in which long record length at high time resolution is needed. This includes magnetic fusion devices such as tokamaks, as well as plasma propulsion, and basic plasma physics research. However other low shot count, fast emission events could be recorded as well, such as in applications like explosives and combustion.
