Description
To meet the demands of Air Force customers and end-users, the MaXentric / Prof. Aly Fathy team proposes the DAWN (Digitally Assisted Wideband power amplifier for Navigation), which uses envelope tracking technology to enhance efficiency of a radiation hardening Gallium Nitride (GaN) solid-state power amplifier (SSPA) for the next generation global positioning system (GPS) navigation payloads. During Phase II work, the team will demonstrate 1-2 GHz and >400 Wpeak SSPA with the drain efficiency of >50% (single carrier) and >40% (multi-carrier). The out-of-band emission in the radio astronomy bands will be satisfied with the ITU-R standard. The developed SSPA is useful for anti-jamming and anti-spoofing of position, navigation and timing (PNT) services.
