Description
IAI and its collaborators (the team) propose to develop REASSESS, a tool for repair assessment and remaining useful life analysis of rotorcraft dynamic components. The tool leverages a proven method for capturing and measuring multi-axial stresses in a component and combines it with a novel technique to conduct frequency domain finite element analysis. The method extends the concept of critical plane such that it accounts for both multi-axial stress state and component material properties in order to more robustly estimate the fatigue/remaining useful life. The method has been successfully applied by our team to a variety of cases both in the Government and the industry with significant gains to the customer. The underlying techniques and methods are agnostic to the type of component being analyzed, thus extending the utility of our tool to many other applications.
