Description
As microgrids have become a viable solution for reliable, resilient power at military installations, a larger focus on the existing infrastructure has emerged.Installation microgrid equipment must operate efficiently and effectively for a microgrid to be successfully implemented and operated.Through our participation in the Smart Power Infrastructure Demonstration for Energy Reliability and Security (SPIDERS) Joint Capabilities Technology Demonstration (JCTD) (see Related Work), we have witnessed the negative impact aging legacy equipment has on the integration of an intelligent microgrid control system.Thus, as microgrids will become more commonplace at military installations, it is critical that prognostic and diagnostic information about all microgrid equipment is available.A forward-leaning, sequence or heuristic-based prognostic and diagnostic (P&D) method will be an ideal solution for this issue.Resultant P&D datasets can be used to inform risk management processes to bolster the availability and resiliency of installation power systems.
