Description

In this SBIR Phase 1, Kent Optronics (KOI), proposes to develop a compact High Resolution (>4kx2k) Scene Projector/Simulator capable of HWIL testing of COBRA sensors with six independent spectral band photonic imagery generation and projection throughout the near UV SWIR (~380nm - >1000nm). The new capabilities are enabled by the recently developed high definition liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) display engine in series with a broadband light illumination engine as well as a wide field of view collimator. The simulator exhibits the following key remarkable features: <br><span style='mso-spacerun:yes'></span>Super Ultra High resolution capability of 4kx2k pixel format;<br><span style='mso-spacerun:yes'></span>Large Simulator Field of view (FOV) up to 15o; to accommodate MSI and SMSI 11o and 14o;<br><span style='mso-spacerun:yes'></span>Can project six unique spectral content scenes @ 24 Hz; <br><span style='mso-spacerun:yes'></span>Scenes bandwidth range from UV to NIR (380nm to 1000nm);<br><span style='mso-spacerun:yes'></span>Can accommodate simultaneously integrating sensors across the 6 spectral bands;<br><span style='mso-spacerun:yes'></span>Increased monochrome amplitude resolution up to 15-bit under optimal conditions.<br>In Phase I, a thorough trade analysis among all the candidate approaches will be performed, leading to an optimal simulator design. In Phase II, a pre-prototype will be developed.
