Description
In this Phase II proposal, we present a detailed research plan to deliver a complete and tested prototype Nanoxene® radiant heating system. During Phase I, we carried out a comprehensive set of experiments, summarized in this proposal, which confirmed the feasibility of implementing Nanoxene® technology in a radiant heating system for expeditionary shelters. System-level considerations have been a significant focus of Phase I, and our work has produced improved designs for heating panel placement (backed by experiment) and a proof-of-concept control module for perceived temperature sensing. The objective of Phase II is to realize the design work of Phase I by completing a working prototype of the Nanoxene® radiant heating system for Army expeditionary shelters. Specific goals will be met with regards to system level design, manufacturability, assembly, safety testing, storage, and performance. The ultimate deployment of the Nanoxene® radiant heating system for Army expeditionary shelters will also provide a springboard to commercialize Nanoxene®-based products in a wide range of non-military applications. It will help the establishment of a world-class manufacturing facility and R&D center for commercial products based on Nanoxene® technology, to boost the local and US economies.
