Description
ABSTRACT: A variety of current and future Air Force platforms face maintainability and survivability challenges related to moderate temperature specialty materials, especially in hot engine exhaust washed environments. An ideal moderate temperature specialty material achieves an upper limit operating temperature of 650F; however, historical performance of such material has been poor, resulting in astoundingly high maintenance downtime and cost.MAST Technologies proposes to perform a broad survey of moderate temperature base polymers, downselect four candidate materials for further investigation, demonstrate the ability to tailor downselected materials to meet application-specific electrical, environmental, and physical properties, and deliver a variety of composite and/or titanium panels per characterized formulation.; BENEFIT: Reduction in maintenance downtime and costs on a variety of current and future Air Force and related U.S. government platforms.A multitude of moderate temperature commercial applications exist, including electronic housing enclosure seals, automotive gaskets, and EMI shielding solutions.
