Description
An improved Contaminated Materiel Transfer Case (CMTC) is needed for use in repatriating contaminated human remains and other contaminated materials.Existing transfer cases are intended for small loads of materials or equipment, and are not conducive for larger materials and human remains. The CMTC must comply with US standards as well as international standards that govern overflight and facilitate refueling in allied nations. The objective of the Phase I program is to develop a high-strength/low-weight, permanently sealed, chemically and biologically impermeable container that can endure the handling, pressurization, and potential drop scenarios encountered in airlift operations. The utility of the novel design will be verified with computational modeling and full-scale prototype testing.
