Description

To address the Missile Defense Agencys need for monitoring and controlling crucial parameters of high power fiber systems Optonicus proposes the development of a novel Intelligent High Power Fiber Laser Tap Coupler (InTAP). The proposed InTAP fiber coupler can operate with different fiber types and provides accurate measurements of the output power, differential phase, polarization and residual pump power. The InTAP module is designed to operate at kW- power level. In Phase I, the company will develop a detailed concept and perform analysis and parameter optimization of the InTAP module, address the most critical technological challenges,build and evaluate the system prototype and demonstrate possibility to sensing with InTAP moduleoptical power and polarization state of kW-class laser beam. In Phase II, Optonicus will develop the fully functioning InTAP fiber tap coupler system that will be delivered to the MDA for further evaluation. Optonicus will also work with MDA prime contractors in Phase II to commercialize the technology for DoD and provide its transition to the markets in Phase III.
