Description

MDA invests millions annually on new radar technologies. However, because it is often difficult to relate theoretical advances to warfighter advantages, MDA is challenged to determine the value of certain investments. A critical need is an evaluation tool that can assess early-development radar algorithms, using consistent metrics, so that promising investments can be quickly differentiated from less useful options. In this program Numerica will develop a BMD radar algorithm test environment for use in variety of programs. The tool will provide an open architecture and modular operating framework. The software will be unclassified (but representative), distributable, and will provide a variety of warfighter-relevant performance metrics. Numerica offers a high-value solution in this program because we will develop a system based on an existing, mature simulation environment. This environment was developed to serve as our Track Management Development Environment for MDA and Army air and missile defense programs. Numerica’s solution already supports an open architecture, has a sophisticated electronically scanned array radar model, includes complete default algorithm components, supports web-based visualization, and includes a metrics suite. In this program, Numerica will extend the Phase I components to add functionality, and mature the software system to prepare a complete advanced prototype.
