Description
Physical Sciences, Inc. (PSI) proposes to further develop our ultra-high temperature ceramic composite (UHT-CMC) technologies to enable production of cost effective engine flow path component for use in environments that will be encountered by the next generations of high speed vehicles such as strike weapons or ISR platforms. The proposed program is designed to highlight the specific benefits of the PSI materials and structures to enable inclusion into anticipated trade studies by the vehicle developers.PSI will focus the work on characterizing the physical properties and temperature capabilities of 4900F capable CMC materials and components that have been modified by the innovative use of a low cost SiC forming polymer. The use of this polymer would reduce final component cost by more than 30%.In addition PSI will demonstrate the ability to produce the complex shape flow path components that are currently being designed to meet the mission requirements of high speed vehicles and weapons.
