Description
The goals for the Robotic Occupant Assistive Ramping System (ROARS) Phase I program are to design a system that is capable of automatically deploying an ADA compliant wheelchair accessible ramp or lift, and to provide the framework for the designing and pairing of an autonomous wheelchair or similar device. ROARS will be designed to work in conjunction with the shuttle 6 platform currently being use as the patient transport system under ARIBO. The end state for this application would will be an autonomous wheelchair or similar device that localizes with the automatically deployed ramp or lift, and boards the vehicle without human interaction.
