Description
SA Photonics has developed a complete design for a wideband Optical RF Memory (ORFM) system which provides high spur-free dynamic range over a 20 GHz instantaneous bandwidth. The heart of the system is a high accuracy true-time delay unit which provides simultaneous fine time delay granularity and long maximum time delays. The signal path is completely analog with no frequency conversion, hence is free of any digital artifacts and has minimal spurious components.Since the system is based on wideband true time delay, the false target will be naturally consistent over multiple radars operating over multiple frequency bands, which is next to impossible task for a traditional DRFM system.Additionally, ORFM also supports advanced ECM jamming waveform generation techniques, including supporting multiple false targets, support of independent Range Gate Pull-In/Out (RGPI/O) profiles for each false target, support of coordinated and uncoordinated Velocity Gate Pull-In/Out (VGPI/O), and flexible velocity and acceleration support to allow direct kinematic equation profile operation.By supporting these advanced counter-measure techniques completely in the analog domain, with a 20 GHz instantaneous bandwidth provides new capabilities not possible by digital systems today, and promises to enable new ECM operating modes
