Description
System-level electromagnetic modeling, which is necessary for electromagnetic interference (EMI) analysis and design for complex platforms housing numerous communication and computing electronics, is computationally formidable and often prohibitively complex. While such modeling is indispensable in guiding and assessing placement and integration of components and subsystems, the multiscale complexity of the associated electromagnetic boundary value problem (BVP) to be solved stands as the major hurdle. Despite significant advances in electromagnetic field and circuit solvers, the task of model development, and the computational cost of the numerical solution of the problem of broadband electromagnetic field interaction with components and structural features spanning six orders of magnitude in size, still stands as an overwhelming hurdle to the advancement of this much needed capability. An added complication is the often present uncertainty in component electromagnetic properties and placement, in system configuration, and in the attributes of the EMI sources. In Phase II, Synclesis will implement a multiscale, stochastic, electromagnetic/circuit analysis and design framework, a Scenario Builder that simplifies the setup of the model and its numerical solution, a novel approach to tackle the complexity of modeling, and analysis and design tools for EMI assessment and mitigation purposes.
