Description

ABSTRACT: The Dual Mode Tag (DMT) Upgrade program will focus on developing the next generation DMT equipment for enhancing battlefield situational awareness (SA) and reducing/preventing the occurrence of fratricide. The DMT-U system will consist of RF, E-O, and IR subcomponents operating in multiple bands to enhance the overall modality and application base. Maximum use will be made of Spectra Researchs proven RF Tag, RF receiver, and E-O/IR technologies to effectively meet the overall goals of this program.; BENEFIT: The commercialization strategy will capitalize on the growing demand for miniaturized RF/EO-IR transmitters for locating and tracking assets such as firefighters or law enforcement officials. Animals also require long-range identification and tracking, such as in National Parks, State Parks and for University-level research in animal behavior. This technology basis could also be applied to supply chain management in warehouses and outside storage facilities. Homeland security requirements include identification of goods in transit at shipyards and cargo ports.
