Description

In the proposed program Systima Technologies Inc. will develop a tunable ETIVS thermal trigger device for integration into a TIVS on Navy weapon system platforms. Systimas ETIVS trigger technology leverages Systimas existing thermal sensing technology and expertise in design of devices for IM mitigation of solid rocket motors. Benefits of Systimas ETVIS device include passive operation (no power required) until detection of SCO or FCO environment, demonstrated MIL-STD-1901A/MIL-STD-1316 compliant in-line initiation system, consistent performance at various heating rates, and lightweight and compact design that is well suited for motors having D=5. In the Phase I program Systima will develop a detailed ETIVS thermal trigger design and validate technical approach and critical component preliminary designs through prototype bench top testing. The Phase II program will further optimize the design and include functional tests per applicable standards as well as environmental testing (such as shock, vibration, etc.) with prototype ETIVS trigger to demonstrate system performance and reliability. SCO/FCO tests will be conducted per MIL-STD-2105D with TIVS energetic materials (LSC) to bring the ETIVS sensor technology to TRL=4-5.
