Description

There is a growing military and commercial market for wireless data transfer and communications. This is largely due to the continuous technology advancements in integrated RF/microwave and signal processing components and the conveniences that wireless connectivity provide, including the removal of bulky connectors, cables and the modularity and movement restrictions they impose. There is also cost reduction benefits with wireless connectivity due to the reduction in physical connector, cable and other hardware material costs and the associated infrastructure installation and sustainment costs. However, the transition to wireless doesnt come without its own hurdles. These include available spectral bandwidth, data intercept or jamming from enemy forces, unintentional interference from other sources and the various operation environment effects on link performance. TSC's novel mmW datalink addresses these issues and allows for the removal of cables or connectors typically required between missile sensors, electronics and subassemblies or between the missile and its launching platform to create the opportunity for modular, plug-and-play missile architectures.
