Description

Wide Area Collective Protection (WACP) is an expeditionary system that enables rapid transformation of indigenous buildings into protective environments for forward operations, including sustained pressurization and air purification. Key technology items in the WACP system include a single-coat elastomeric bridging polyurea foam as an expedient and durable sealant, a TEDA-impregnated pleated carbon filter for high-volume air purification, and a dust-hardened, high-volume building pressurization unit with power generation, air purification, and supply air conditioning.This SBIR Phase II project is intended to demonstrate the feasibility of this application by updating the original system and conducting a "Limited Objective Experiment using modified test equipment. Specifically, this SBIR will advance the development of the sealant and filter components of the WACP system for performance evaluation, and result in detailed definition of a full-scale expeditionary air purification unit. Toyon will demonstrate the achievable pressurization, and determine the air-tightening required for multiple representative facilities through field experiments. One of the main products of the effort will be a WACP SubAssembly, which will be developed to represents a portion or smaller scale version of the full-scale WACP system.
