Description
Trexs Night Vision Head Worn Display system (NV-HWD) will provide digital, multi-spectral, robust all-condition viewing capability for ground soldiers without harming natural see-through vision. The proposed system is a compact, lightweight, heads-up, broad-band night vision display system with dual function as a daytime display.Fused imagery from low-light CMOS and LWIR sensors is displayed via the novel HWD, which is based on mature retinal scanning display technology combined with a curved transparent mirror approach. The imaging sensor module can be helmet-mounted, worn separately or stowed when not used.Trexs HWD overcomes the many limitations of waveguide-based HWDs.It provides an unimpeded see-through field-of-view, high see-through transmission (> 80%), a large display field-of-view (8045 per eye), and high acuity (20/20).At night the imagery is displayed in red beyond 620nm wavelength to allow and preserve dark eye adaptation. During the day, operation in full color has adequate brightness for use in full sunlight.Under the Phase-II and Option, three NV-HWD prototypes will be designed, fabricated and demonstrated to the customer: a wide-FOV monocular prototype, WFOV high-acuity binocular prototype and full-color WFOV high-acuity binocular prototype. The proposed system has the ultimate potential to replace essential, but dated military/tactical I^2 Night Vision Goggles.
