Description

Triton Systems has teamed with the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems, Guardian Industries, SBA Materials, Solvay Specialty Polymers, and Kuraray America to develop and demonstrate a high efficiency single pane window system that will encourage replacement of conventional single pane windows at a faster rate with significant energy savings. Triton’s Multifunctional Glazing System (MGS) combines innovations in a low-e ECTFEC/ITO nanocomposite film, a low–k ordered mesoporous silica innerlayer, and a PVB/ phyllosilicate nanocomposite edge seal with commercially available antireflective coated soda lime float glass. We believe this concept will achieve ARPA-E’s goal for an affordable high efficiency single pane system having a thickness no larger than ¼ inch that can replace conventional low efficiency 1/8 inch single panes.
