Ongoing disease and death associated with influenza infection are high priority issues for global public health Current Influenza vaccines require refrigeration which is difficult to manage in developing countries Also easy to use delivery systems need to be developed so vaccine can be delivered by non professionals especially during emergencies Live attenuated influenza vaccines LAIV have been shown to provide superior protection from infection and have potential to provide rapid benefit from early immune responses UST has a history of successfully dry preserving vaccines including LAIV utilizing proprietary "Preservation by Vaporization " PBV foam technology These PBV vaccines demonstrate stability rt month at C UST has also developed a micronization process whereby PBV vaccine can be milled to particle sizes optimum for nasal delivery
