Description
Through this MDA Phase I STTR program, NanoSonic shall work with the high energy laboratory at Penn State and with input from a major US integrator of hypersonic vehicles to develop improved high temperature radome materials for uncooled aerodynamic reentry and hypersonic vehicles. Through prior work, NanoSonic has developed and demonstrated high temperature materials with good thermal insulating performance and acceptably low dielectric constant and loss tangent over RF communication frequencies. Through the proposed program, NanoSonic would investigate methods to reduce the dielectric constant and loss tangent and increase thermal insulation. RF measurements of developed materials would be performed in-house at NanoSonic using standard vector network analyzer and RF cavity analysis equipment. High temperature performance will be analyzed in-house using a quartz lamp bank exposure facility and at Penn State’s High Energy Laboratory. Phase I deliverables would include reports, test results and prototype high temperature radome ceramic matrix composite materials. Approved for Public Release | 22-MDA-11339 (13 Dec 22)
