Description

Our objective is to develop and demonstrate an integrated capability to perform dynamic retasking of missile defense surveillance sensors. The goal of this effort is to develop an task scheduling algorithm that will allow the the earliest possible event detection and maintain the highest quality tracks throughout the entire engagement. Each sensor will have a unique motion history and possibly different sensing capability. After initial detection, there is a need to track all objects and develop state estimates for location and classification. We will accomplish this by automating the solution of the scheduling problem through the use of a Lagrangian relaxation technique. This scheduling approach will be incorporated into a sliding window framework that will allow for the ability to dynamically re-task the sensors based upon collected data. Based upon our end-to-end testbed, tradeoff studies will be conducted to determine both system and functional component algorithm performance based on scenario complexity.
