Description

The specific opportunity to be addressed here is that of leveraging advanced geo-referenced information and analysis techniques and tools in support of the Navy Undersea Warfare Decision Support System (USW DSS) threat opposition force (OPFOR) assessment, also known as "Red Teaming". The OPFOR commander plans and executes missions in opposition to U.S. Navy forces with consideration of the air-sea environment, an assessment of relevant ship and system capabilities, the evolving tactical situation and perceived asset dispositions and readiness levels, and mission objectives. The goal of U.S. Navy "Red Teaming" is to "get inside the head" of the OPFOR commander and in so doing to distill possible OPFOR courses of action down to a manageable set of alternatives. If successful, this will result in rapid assessment of likely OPFOR intentions and plans, enabling enhanced USW DSS decision timelines, decision effectiveness, and overall situational awareness.
